This project, implemented simultaneously, was particularly complex and significant due to several key aspects. Below are the main achievements and benefits:

1. The most complex road junction in Lithuania with the highest traffic intensity

  • Traffic intensity in this section was extremely high: 58,817 vehicles per day (AADT), of which 7,276 were heavy vehicles. On peak days, traffic volume reached up to 78,000 vehicles/day.

  • Traffic safety assurance: Throughout construction, traffic flow in both directions was maintained with at least two lanes open in each direction, ensuring smooth transit and uninterrupted movement.

2. Cooperation with two clients

  • The project was implemented in collaboration with Via Lietuva and the Kaunas City Municipality Administration, allowing for more efficient coordination and ensuring that both national and local interests were considered.

3. Separation of transit and local traffic flows

  • The construction of connecting roads allowed the separation of A1 motorway transit traffic from local Kaunas city traffic. This reduced congestion on city streets, improved road safety, and provided residents with more convenient access to their destinations.

4. Economic and technical benefits

  • Travel time savings and reduced operating costs: Smoother traffic and improved infrastructure reduced travel times, increased transport capacity, and delivered significant economic benefits.

  • Reduction in accidents: Safer road conditions and the separation of transit and local flows contributed to lower accident rates.

5. Engineering solutions

  • Surface water drainage systems: New stormwater collection networks were installed, ensuring proper drainage and reducing flood risks.

  • Lighting networks: Improved visibility during nighttime hours enhanced road safety.

6. Environmental solutions

  • Noise barriers: Environmental pollution, especially noise, was reduced. The installation of noise barriers lowered noise levels in residential areas, improving quality of life.

Conclusion
The implementation of this project was of exceptional importance both technically and environmentally. The construction of connecting roads and the separation of transit and local traffic improved road safety, reduced accidents, and generated economic benefits. At the same time, environmental measures and safer traffic solutions brought advantages to both local residents and the transport sector.
